Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using Readable, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service. These terms form a binding agreement between you and Readable.

2. The Service

Readable provides a document reading and organization platform with optional AI-powered features including chapter parsing and summarization. Features vary by plan (Guest, Free, Pro) as described on the pricing page.

3. Your Account

• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
• You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
• You may not share your account or allow others to access it on your behalf.
• You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Upload content you do not have the right to use or distribute
• Upload illegal, harmful, or abusive content
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the service or its APIs
• Use the service to violate any applicable law or regulation
• Circumvent any access controls or usage limits

5. AI Features

AI-powered features (chapter parsing, summarization) are processed via OpenAI's API. These outputs are generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading. AI outputs are provided for convenience only and are not professional, legal, medical, or financial advice. You assume full responsibility for how you use AI-generated content.

6. Paid Plans & Billing

• Pro plan subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis. Pricing is displayed at checkout.
• You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; no partial refunds are issued.
• We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers.

7. Educational Discount

The .edu discount is available to users with a valid educational email address. By claiming the discount you certify that you qualify. Fraudulent verification will result in immediate account suspension and revocation of the discount. We reserve the right to verify eligibility at any time.

8. Your Content

You retain ownership of all documents and content you upload. By uploading content, you grant Readable a limited license to store and process it solely to provide the service to you. We do not claim ownership of your content and do not use it for any purpose beyond operating the service.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at our discretion if you violate these terms or for any other reason with reasonable notice, except in cases of serious violations which may result in immediate termination. You may delete your account at any time from your account settings.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

Readable is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any defects will be corrected.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Readable shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, including loss of data or documents.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of Readable after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
